MORE THAN JUST COMMERCE PHILOSOPHY
As a member of the Santa Cruz Community Credit Union's More Than
Just Commerce Program, our business strives to conduct business in
a socially just and environmentally sustainable way. We recognize
our role as a locally owned independent business as an opportunity
to address the needs of the community. We try to meet and exceed
each of these principles each day:
-
To support the community by the nature of our business and/or
charitable giving; to care about the strength and sustainability
of this community.
-
To buy products and services from locally owned and independent
businesses that act according to this philosophy. To provide
goods and services of the highest quality while keeping prices
affordable.
-
To minimize our impact on the natural environment in every
aspect of business operation.
-
To reduce, reuse, recycle, and buy recycled as much as possible;
to minimize non-recyclable waste, and to take all hazardous
waste to proper facilities to be disposed of; to buy recycled
packaging and office supplies.
-
To strive to do business with suppliers that respect and care
for the people and resources necessary to create their products;
to stay informed about the business actions of our suppliers,
and to be open to changing business partners if their values
regarding business operations are out of alignment with our
own.
-
To provide fair, honest, and respectful service to our customers.
-
To respect our employees and treat them fairly while keeping
in mind the living wage; to keep them informed about services
and products we provide as well as to keep them informed about
social and environmental issues surrounding business/store
practices.
